If you already have had oral herpes (cold sores)?

Can you kiss someone who clearly has the symptoms? The root of this has to do with whether there is more than one virus which causes oral herpes. I know there is more than one, in general (when you include genital herpes, too). But if there is only one virus that causes the oral, I already have it, and therefore won’t worry about it.
